As we all continue to work on our New Year’s resolutions, we might be focusing a lot on bettering ourselves, but our pets could use a little New Year’s love too!
In the pet world, we control much of what our animals do. This includes monitoring their nutrition and exercise schedules and the amount of time we spend with them. While we all hope to be the best pet owners we can be, sometimes even our pets gain a little…”fluff” over the year just like we do. Why not do something for them while we work on ourselves?
Walking your pets every day might seem like a chore when you’re tired after work or school, but the good it does for our puppy friends is immeasurable! Dogs need exercise and good nutrition to be healthy too. To top it off, there are even charities and apps which fundraise money for the amount of time spent walking your dogs. To do even more good, sign up for one of these and turn it on every time you take a stroll with your pups. Or, make a goal for yourself—for every mile you run or walk or every hour you exercise, spend the same amount of time playing with or walking your pets. If you’ve got pets other than dogs, make time to play with or work them as well. Sometimes the time with a pet is just the motivation we need to get up and keep going ourselves. It’s a great way to burn some extra calories and keep your pets healthy and happy and by your side all through 2017!
