As a student I am always on the run, always asking questions, and always being asked questions. I am always researching for information for new stuff, or to just jog my memory. Either way, my student-brain is always going one hundred miles a minute.
Something that actually helps me get clear concise information fast and without much effort or researching is the Merck Veterinary Manual App. With this app, I can have explanations of hematological problems, dental and aging charts in two seconds without having to plow through the internet. In the Veterinary content section, I can search for conditions specifically, or I can go through the categories organized by body system.
My favorite part of this app is actually the News section, in which I can see what is going on in the world of Animal Health at the moment. I think this is great because it has informative information without having to subscribe to a specific journal or have to bypass human medicine and just general news topics. I also like this feature because I can inform my own veterinarian about the news and be proud that I found out about specific information before he did.
In addition, a feature that helps both me and my non-technician friends is the chocolate toxicity calculator. With this calculator, I can have a quick response to my panicking friends about the next steps they should take if their animal has eaten any chocolate. There is also an anesthetic calculator that automatically calculates the drugs for anesthesia which I think is super neat!
Overall, this app gives you access to a lot of vital information in a quick fashion, and that is what I have been using it for. It helps me remind my information filled student-brain so that I can have room for even more knowledge.
