Here’s a quick read and a real gut-wrencher that won’t disappoint. A memoir about a brilliant, young, successful physician that is diagnosed with terminal cancer and is forced to take a look back at his life and what he leaves behind.
This is one of my favorite books I’ve read in vet school. It is authored by veterinarian Dr. Jessica Vogelsang, who is an incredible storyteller and, in this memoir, talks through her life and how three dogs impacted her.
Veterinary medicine is a unique medical field because of the role we play in end-of-life care and ending an ailing patient’s suffering. This book tackles the difficult topic of how medicine and doctors can aid at the end of life.
