Suture Review is the annual night of laughs and silliness hosted by the second-year class at AVC. Last year as a first year, we had all heard about and looked forward to this mystery event, as it provided a night of entertainment. As a second year, this meant we’re now in charge of it and didn’t get to just sit back and laugh. Sure, last year we made a few silly music video parodies such as a play on “Wake Me Up” by Avici and “Royals” by Lorde. This year, we were running the show!
I have a camera, so that means I helped a lot with filming for all the silly videos we were doing. I also put together a compilation of my classmates dozing off in class, errr, resting up for midterms? On the night of, I was running a photo booth, performing in a dance number, and singing a parody of “The Hanging Tree.”
Suture Review also coincidentally happened to be the same week that it finally stopped snowing. We finally started to make up our classes, meaning we weren’t done until later in the evening than usual. We also had a coffee house and art exhibit during the week. I sang a few songs with AVC’s singing group the Vagal Tones, and even broke out my trombone for a number with some friends. Though none of these had anything to do with vet school (besides silly parodies of vet school things), but it was really nice to have a creative outlet for once. We’re very busy in the science realm 99% of the time, so if one week out of the year we can spend our time making posters and singing songs, I’ll take it.
